Jody Alan Gray, age 55, of Oak Hill, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio with his family by his side. He was born October 21, 1969, in Gallipolis, Ohio to Gary Gray and the late Julia (Collins) Gray.
In addition to his father, Gary, he is survived by his daughters, Marlie (Ethan Snyder) Chandler, and Ashton (Talyn) McCain; grandchildren, Avery, Jase, Maisyn, Knoxlee, and a grandson on the way; brothers, Chris (Melissa) Gray and Brad (Chrissy) Gray; and a host of friends and family that were dear to him.
In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his wife, Amy Gray, of 14 years; son-in-law, Kyle Chandler; and several aunts, uncles and grandparents.
Jody attended school in Oak Hill and Buckeye Hills. He worked in the timber industry for most of his early adult life. He then went on to be a long-time truck driver of many years, however there wasn’t much he couldn’t do or didn’t try. Jody went just about everywhere in the United States and got to experience quite a lot in his short trip on earth. He enjoyed drinking his morning coffee while writing his daily Facebook posts, visiting with his family and friends, loafing at the Swamps, entertaining his friends, and going on many buggy rides. He loved to aggravate everyone, especially if he liked you. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and teaching them all that he could. Jody was a very charismatic person, he had the strange ability to make fun of you while making you feel important and understood, at the same time. There was much more to him than meets the eye, He did everything on his own terms and played every hand that he was dealt.
Friends and family may visit on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, from 4:00 – 7:30 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home in Oak Hill. At his request he will be cremated after the services. A funeral will follow the visitation on Tuesday at 7:30 PM with Pastor Stan Howard officiating. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
Sorry for your loss. Prayers for the family
