Pansy Ellen Erickson

Pansy Ellen Erickson passed away on September 6, 2026, in her home surrounded by family, to be with her Lord and Savior after a fierce battle with esophageal cancer. Pansy was born in Jackson, Ohio, to John and Catherine Sexton. As the youngest of 10 children, she was born a fighter. She spent most of her adult life in Michigan raising her three loving sons. On July 4, 1998, Pansy married the love of her life, Greg Erickson.

Known for being fiercely protective of her boys and a bit stubborn, Pansy was also an avid animal lover. She had a special passion for horses, even marching with her horse in the Detroit Thanksgiving Day Parade, which was a great source of pride for her. Four years ago, Pansy fulfilled her lifelong aspiration of moving back to her hometown, where she lived in her dream home with her husband and their dog, Hooch. Pansy loved taking care of her house, canning peppers, and looking out over her property. You would often find her in the chicken coop caring for her many chickens and her rooster, Toby, or sitting at her kitchen table with a warm cup of coffee. Pansy was deeply comforted to be baptized at her home before her passing on Sept. 4, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.

Pansy leaves behind to cherish her memory her devoted and loving husband of 30 years, Greg Erickson; her sons, Todd (Tammy) Baker, Michael (Shelley) Baker, and Jeremy (Amy) Baker; her grandchildren, Jesse (Christina) Baker, Chesney Baker, Haley Baker, Jacob Baker, Rory Mills, Lucas (Tori) Bondy, Jilliann Baker, and Charlie Bondy- Baker; her great-grandchildren, Coraline and Nolan Baker, Journi Braddock, and Lucia Bondy; her sisters, Joyce Wisecup and Cathy (Ray) Hammond; and many beloved nieces and nephews. 

Pansy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Catherine Sexton; her siblings, Paul, Daniel, Phillip, James, David, Eugene, and Bonnie Sexton; and her faithful canine companion, Hooch.

The family wishes to thank Adena Hospice for their deep empathy and kindness during Pansy’s final days. In accordance with Pansy’s wishes, she is entrusted to the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill, and she will be cremated. A private celebration of life will be held for immediate family.
