Our Mission Statement
Lewis & Gillum Funeral Homes are here to provide expert care and guidance during the most traumatic time in someone’s life. Our goal is to guide, listen and care for those who are mourning. Our other equally important mission is to provide a meaningful, dignified funeral service for those who place their trust in us and have for almost 40 years in Jackson and almost 80 years in Oak Hill. We wish to honor a life and do so while being mindful of cost to the family, as our prices will compare with any other funeral home in the area. In 2012, we remodeled both our Jackson and Oak Hill locations to better suit our families and show them that we care about the facilities in which people pay for. Our goal is to be a very aesthetically modern funeral home, but also maintain a traditional feel to what we do. Our area of expertise is traditional funerals, graveside services, cremations with services, direct cremations and the prearrangement counseling for these services. However, we will do our best to model whatever wishes you have to accurately portray the life that your loved one lived. I would like to thank the families who put their trust in us, call upon us in such difficult and painful times, and allow us to serve you. It truly is a privilege.

We are closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic. What does this mean for funerals during this pandemic? Per CDC guidelines and governor recommendations, Ohio funeral homes were asked to limit the number in attendance to 50 or under for all funerals/memorial services/graveside services. Currently we are asked to practice proper social distancing of 6 ft apart and wear a mask indoors. If you are experiencing any symptoms, you are asked to please stay home and consult a doctor. Services could change to having only private family funerals in the future, but we have not reached that point yet. We certainly hope this does not happen to ensure that everyone has proper closure during the grieving process that funerals provide. With that being said, we do value the health of everyone, especially our older popuIation and those at higher risk, and want to abide by the guidelines of keeping this virus from spreading to those who may have weakened or no immunities, or pre-existing conditions that may compromise their health. Our concern is our families and our community; therefore, we want to do our part in practicing safety. I will keep this page updated to the best of my ability. Please reach out to us if you have any questions and/or concerns. We will answer your questions the best we can. We are definitely living in some strange times, yet I fully believe that God has this under control. Please keep the sick, elderly, those at higher risk and those on our front lines in your prayers.
