Ruth Louise Farrar

Our precious mom, Ruth “Louise” Farrar, of Jackson, Ohio, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at the age of 90. She passed away six days shy of her 91st birthday, surrounded by love and family in the home of her daughter and son-in-law. Her son, Kerry, also played an important role in her final days.

Louise was born to the late George Richard and Crystal “Arthena” McGoon on September 14, 1935. She graduated from Jackson High School in 1953 and always looked forward to attending her yearly class reunions. She married her high school sweetheart, the late Orlan E. Farrar, on June 14, 1953. They were married for nearly 63 years before he passed away in 2016. As a loyal employee of United Dairy Farmers in Columbus, Ohio, she worked as a manager for 31 years and was known for going above and beyond her assigned duties. She was a member of The Rock Church of Jackson, where she attended with her son Kerry and other beloved family members.

She was a devoted mother who dedicated her life to taking care of her loved ones, and worked tirelessly in doing so. Louise was abundantly generous with her time and put everyone above herself. She cherished her grandchildren, enjoyed looking after them, and treasured celebrating all of their accomplishments and milestones. Above all, she was most proud of being called Grandma Great. Her selfless nature, energy, and work ethic were truly unmatched.

Louise is survived by her two sons, Kerry Farrar of Jackson, Ohio and Kevin (Nancy) Farrar of Seymour, Tennessee, along with one daughter, Sheri (Todd) Ghearing of Jackson, Ohio. She was blessed with eleven grandchildren: the late Stacy Lamb, Tracy Danielle (Travis) Barber, Joel (Courtney) Farrar, Kirsten (David) Blum, Samantha (Max), Emily (Brandon) Rockwell, Sarah (Ryan) Schuler, Jared (Whitney) Ghearing, Brandon Ghearing (fiancée, Courtney Myers), Garrett (Skylar) Ghearing, Collin Ghearing (Sydney Gilbert), and eighteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Betty Walker and Shirley Chisholm, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husband Orlan E. Farrar; son, Richard E. “Rick” Farrar; infant daughter, Susanna; granddaughter, Stacy Lamb; and sister, Anna Mae Tester.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 12:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson.
