Michael "Mike" Metzler

Michael “Mike” H. Metzler, age 80 of Oak Hill, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 16, 2026. He was born August 24, 1945, in Oak Hill, Ohio to the late Orville P. and Margaret Louise (Searls) Metzler.

On November 7, 1963, Mike married the love of his life, Judy A. Adkins. He was retired from Waterloo Coal Company and was an avid outdoorsman. He loved camping, trapping, and hunting, but was happiest with a rod and reel in his hand in his boat catching fish at Jackson Lake. He always took pride in his gardening, and was a fine woodworker, building furniture and clocks in his wood shop. Mike was a proud Freemason and a 60-year member of Portland Masonic Lodge 366 in Oak Hill.

He is survived by two daughters, Anna Miller and Jennifer (Chris) Lovett both of Oak Hill. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Crystal Miller, Cory Miller, Caleb Lovett, and his beloved cat, “Baby”.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy, two sisters Kay Smith, Judy Campbell, and a brother, Jack Metzler.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Portland Lodge 366 in Oak Hill, care of Lewis & Gillum funeral home, 202 Maple Ave., Oak Hill, Ohio 45656.
