Ernie Edward Walker Sr

Ernest Edward Walker Sr., “Ernie”, age 79, of Jackson, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 10, 2026, in his home he was born and raised in, that his grandfather built in 1905. He was born May 26, 1947, in Jackson, to the late Orville and Eileen J. (Landrum) Walker

He is survived by his wife of almost 57 years, Susan (Milliman) Walker, of Jackson; children, Ernie Jr. (Barbara) Walker, of Wellston, Tami Walker (Abu Sufyan), of Logan, Shawni (Kyle) Lonas, of Athens, and Adam Walker, of Jackson; bonus son, Tony (Laura) Ireland, of Jackson; grandchildren: Samantha (Sage) Marijan, Savannah Ireland, Rece Lonas, Sydney Ireland, Peri Lonas, Kaleb Walker, and Gabriel Walker; and one great grandson, Koda Alexander. He is also survived by his brother, Tony (Carol) Walker; sister, Cindy Orlowski; two sisters-in-law, Pam and Linda Walker, Jeanette (Dwight) Lassen, Dianna (Ron) Estes, and Peggy Murray; brothers-in-law, David (Karen) Milliman and Micheal (Gloria) Milliman and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Jeff, Terry, and Clint Walker; sister and brother-in-law, Carol (Tom) Monington.

Ernie graduated from McArthur High School and entered the Air Force in 1966. He met his wife, Susan while he was stationed in Alaska in 1969 and they married in 1970. He was an accomplished guitar player, and he enjoyed woodworking. The Walker men were known for being Jack of all Trades, helping anyone in need. His love of God fueled his passion for studying and discussing both the Bible and religion. His grandsons, Kaleb and Gabriel will miss all the dad jokes that Ernie made up.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 3-5 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral services will immediately follow at 5:00 PM at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force and the DAV of Jackson.
