Carl Edward Woolum, age 79, of Jackson, Ohio went home to be with Jesus on Monday, September 10th, 2026, after an extended illness. Carl was born in Ironton, Ohio on March 29th, 1947, to the late Donald and Dorothy (Salyers) Woolum.
He was a 1965 graduate of Jackson High School. Through the years he worked at various retail locations. He was employed with GC Murphy for 26 years and also worked for Dollar General as well as being co-owner of Woolums Business Products. One job he got great enjoyment from was driving for the senior citizens.
Carl was a member of the Lions Club and even founded the Breakfast Lions Club in Vinton, Va. He was also a long-time Rotary member. Carl was a member and served on the board at Good Shepherd Wesleyan Church for many years.
He loved spending time with his family and was an amazing Poppy. His family will forever cherish his special way of reading Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You? to his children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Carl is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sheila (Kimble) Woolum; daughters, Angela (Richard) Cyrus and Stacey (Roger) Crace; grandchildren: Jessica (Scott) Handy, Kierston (Doug) Smith, and Wyatt Crace; great-grandchildren: Nathanial Rucker, Kayleigh Davis, and Remington Smith; siblings: Keith (Lori) Woolum and Alicia (Robert) Smith; special niece, Karen Christian; and several additional nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law, Herb and Patty Christian; mother and father-in-law, Margaret and Warren Kimble; and stepmother, Eileen Woolum.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 16th, 2026, from 12PM-2PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson with a funeral immediately after at 2PM. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
