Howard Lemon, 95, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2023. He was born in Ashley Corner, Scioto County, October 15th, 1927, son of the late Floyd and Ica (Bennett) Lemon.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Alma Lemon; his daughter, Peggy (Mark) Parrish; son, Steve (Carol Ann) Lemon; four grandchildren: Nicole Cadigan, Carrie Parrish, Christopher Lemon, and Evan Parrish; six great- grandchildren; and lifelong friend and brother-in-law, Paul Wagner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Alma Horsley of Ashley Corner and Alta Good of New York, and his brother, Edsel Lemon of Columbus.

Howard was a World War II veteran, serving honorably in the Pacific Theater as an Air Force communications technician. He was stationed in Shanghai China and has since been a fan of Chinese food. After the Air Force, he became an Ohio State Patrolman in Jackson and served for 25 years as a Radio Dispatcher. Howard served on the Buckeye Rural Electric Cooperative, was a 4-H advisor and served on several Jackson County Extension agricultural committees. A strong-willed man, and Alma, together built Hill Haven Farm, west of Oak Hill, Ohio raising registered Polled Herefords. A loving husband and father, Peggy and Steve could always hear him whistling while out on the tractor. He loved basketball and played for the South Webster Jeeps in High School and later in a few adult leagues. Watching basketball was perhaps his only hobby other than work – work and more work. He never quit working and always helped others. He was a member of the Masons and attended Saint Paul United Methodist Church in Oak Hill.
