David Welton Williamson, 84, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away at his home on October 1, 2026, surrounded by his family.

David was born on September 18, 1942, in Greenfield, Ohio, to Robert and Helen Williamson and was the eldest to four younger brothers. He dedicated much of his life to serving his community and helping others. David proudly served as a sergeant with the Jackson City Police Department for 25 years. After his retirement, he became the public safety instructor at Buckeye Hills Career Center for 10 years. Aside from his law enforcement career, David was a realty agent and owned and operated his own painting business. David was a member of Good Shepherd Wesleyan Church in Jackson for many years.

He was a hardworking man who took great pride in his family and in the home he built with his beloved wife, Iva. They shared 54 years of marriage and a lifetime of memories together.

David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Iva Williamson; his daughter, Sarah (Doug) Wooten; and his grandchildren, Bryner Wooten and Calianne Wooten. He is also survived by his special niece and nephew, Scott and Kim Spohn; his brother-in-law, Jeep Boggs; and his brother, Donald (Hope) Williamson.

He had many things he loved throughout his life. He was a loyal Cincinnati Reds fan, and he loved the Ohio State Buckeyes. He especially enjoyed fishing, telling stories about his police career, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; Henry Williamson, James Williamson Sr., and Roger Williamson; and sister-in-law, Ellen Boggs.

David’s life was one of love, service, hard work, and devotion to his family. His greatest legacy will live on through the family he loved and the lives he touched. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Lewis & Gillum Funeral home in his honor to establish a scholarship fund for individuals pursuing a career in law enforcement.

A graveside service will be held on Monday at 12:00 PM at Fairmount Cemetery. At David’s request, there will be no public visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home in Jackson. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
