Gilbert Rodriguez, age 86, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away on April 21, 2024, under the care of Holzer Hospital and Holzer Hospice after a traumatic fall.
Gilbert was born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 27, 1937, to the late Philip Rodriguez and Josephine (Scafilia) Pekar.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a machinist at Cuyahoga Bolt and Screw in Cleveland for more than 20 years. Gilbert retired to Jackson, Ohio, with his wife, Rita “Sharon” in 2004. He worked part time at the Jackson County Board on Aging following his retirement.
Gilbert loved all styles of music and dancing, delicious home cooked meals, and a variety of TV shows. He embraced his Mexican heritage and loved sharing a conversation in Spanish every chance he could. He also valued the fellowship of his friends at the senior center.
He is survived by his children: Wendell (Kathy), Anthony (Ann), and Bert (Lori); stepchildren: Paula (Mark), Dean, and Carol; 29 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Gilbert was preceded in death by his wife, Rita; stepdaughter, Cheryl; daughters, Teresa and Joanne; first wife, Violet; and his siblings, Joseph “Geno” and Mary Grace.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 12PM to 2PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson located at 28 Harding Ave, Jackson, OH 45640.
