"Father"
Today a text came through;
low and behold it was about you.
You up and passed away;
leaving a gloom to an already cloudy day.
Thirty two years,
Since I shed my last tears.
Why did it have to be this way,
I really don’t know what to say.
A father you chose not to be;
no matter the pain it caused me.
Now today I have to say goodbye;
hidden emotions no longer a lie.
I see you laying there;
a smile I cannot share.
You left without a care,
cause a father’s love you didn’t share.
Now I say goodbye to my father,
a crying tear I do not bother;
You’ll meet your choice,
no matter the pain I voice.
So to the man who could’ve been dad,
I say this as I am so sad.
I still love and forgive you,
Cause the Bible says I have too.
A dad you will never be,
so with this I set you free.
