Gerald “Bud” Eugene Myers, age 84, of Oak Hill, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, at Adena Medical Center in Chillicothe. He was born on July 29, 1940, in Oak Hill to the late Donald Joseph and Mary Irene (Nagle) Myers.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ellen (Davis) Myers; great grandchild, Gunner Joseph Adams; and his father and mother-in-law, Willard and Gladys (Dunn) Davis.
He is survived by his daughter, Julie Myers (Kevin Adkins); grandchildren, Jordan Chandler (Jesse) Adams, and Derrick Adkins; brother, James “Dickie” (Karen) Myers; great grandchildren, Rhett, Clara, and Clay Adams; nephews, Aaron (Libby) Myers, and Matthew Myers; and niece, Angela Myers (Jon Raab). He is also survived by many great nieces and nephews, that he loved very much.
He graduated from Southwestern High School in 1958. He worked as a machinist at the Oak Hill Foundry. He drove for Davis Firebrick for many years. He also worked many years for and retired from the Jackson County Highway Department. He was passionate about cars, loved working on them and drag raced for over 60 years. He very much loved racing his Plymouth Barracudas through the years, along with his brother, who was always his faithful and devoted pit crew.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2025, from 12-2 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home in Oak Hill. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 PM at C.M. Cemetery in Oak Hill. So sad Bud was a co worker at hwydept for many year was not aware he was sick
He was a great man! I met him a few times when I worked for Aaron. He always made me laugh. Prayers for healing and comfort in the coming days to the Myers family… Brandi E Castle
