William “Billy” Cosby, Jr. “Uncle Billy”, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 25th, 2020 at the Four Winds Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility, Jackson, Ohio. He was born July 25, 1935 in Jackson, County to the late William “Britt” Cosby and Nannie Jones Cosby.

He attended church at Savageville Community Church and also visited Zion Baptist Church, Pike County. Until his health declined, he resided with his devoted niece who was also his care giver and made sure Uncle Billy had everything he needed, Ms. Kendra Davis.

Uncle Billy had battled bone cancer for many years and most recently was told there was not much more the doctors could do but he kept moving and he never gave up. Although never married or having children of his own, he loved his nieces and nephews. He also loved pig farming and would raise pigs to sell to the Jackson 4-H Clubs.

Billy retired from the Jackson County Highway Department where he was a dump truck driver. He was also a former greeter at the Jackson Walmart and had served as a Jackson County Township Trustee.

He is survived by two brothers, Douglas “Pete” Cosby of Jackson, Ohio and Darold “Eb)”Cosby of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Daisy Cosby and Janet Cosby of Chillicothe, Ohio; his special nieces, Kendra Davis and Mattison Robbins with whom he resided, Jewell “Judy” Valentine Tanner of Columbus, Ohio, and Sylvia Powell of Jackson, Ohio; a host of devoted nieces and nephews that will feel the loss of Uncle Billy; as well as several relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers: Stanley, Darwin “Doc”, Coston, Heber, and Johnny; and five sisters: Mary Valentine, Flossie Valentine, Sarah Powell, Wylodine Powell, and Wilma Brown

Private graveside services will be held at Fairmount Cemetery in Jackson, Ohio with Reverend Jorge Anido of Savageville Community Church and Reverend Calvin Minnis of Corinth Baptist Church Blackfork, Ohio officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
