Floyd Rose, age 72, of Jackson, passed away Monday, July 29, 2019 at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis. He was born April 11, 1947 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to the late Jesse and Alice (Miller) Rose
He is survived by his wife of almost 51 years, Deborah (Foster) Rose; daughters, Jennifer (Kenneth) Evans, Jessica (Pat) Wills; grandsons, Dale Nelson (Meagan Rollins), Garth Rose (Bailey Sales); granddaughters, Bronwyn Nelson and Ashley Wills; step grandsons, Jacob Wills and Phillip Wills; great grandchildren, Avery and Charleigh Nelson; step great grandchildren, Skylar, Grayson, Trey and Riley Wills. Also surviving is his brothers, Lloyd (JoAnn) Rose; sisters, Brenda (Jim) Pennington, Linda (Danny) Sparks, Juanita Brown and lots of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and countless friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Floyd Matthew Rose; son-in-law, Dale Nelson Sr.; infant brother, Thomas Rose; brother-in-law, Allan Brown and his sister-in-law, Denise Gilliland.
Floyd graduated from Jackson High School class of 1965. He was then drafted into in the Army and served in Vietnam. Floyd then worked for DT&I railroad briefly and then moved on to the Sheriff’s office as a Deputy in 1971 for 7 years. He then transferred to the Jackson Police Department for 11 years until his retirement in 1990.
Friends may call Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from 4-8 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, August 1, 2019 at the funeral home with Pastors Mike Wyatt and Stan Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Ridge Cemetery.
