Darryl Gregory McCallister, age 71 went to be his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Monday evening, May 13, 2019 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, North Carolina. He was born April 6, 1948 in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Donald and Vada McCallister.

Darryl graduated from Huntington East High School and went on to Marshall University. He then moved on to be a Park Ranger for the Corps of Engineers. He loved God, his kids, his grandsons and his friends and family. He loved scuba diving, exercising, weightlifting and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his two children, Scott (Lea) McCallister, of Clayton, North Carolina and Kimberly Hensley, of Charleston, West Virginia; grandsons, Payton Scott McCallister and Reid Shaffer McCallister, both of Clayton, NC.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of Darryl’s life will be held at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 11:30 AM.
