Vera Kathryn “Dearie” (McGuire) Spencer, age 72, of Jackson, Ohio departed this place here on earth on Tuesday, May 14th, 2019 and is now singing with the angels in Heaven. She was born May 16th, 1946 in South Webster, Ohio to the late Herbert and Gertrude “Kate” (Caldwell) McGuire.

Vera was a class of 1964 graduate of Oak Hill High School. She worked for 31 years at the Goodyear plant in Jackson. She was a faithful servant and Christian and attended several churches in the Jackson area.

She is survived by her son, James Scott (Kathy) Spencer of Fairborn, Ohio; daughter, Lora Wolford of Jackson, Ohio; grandsons, Trey and Cole Spencer, both of Fairborn, Ohio; three granddaughters: Kaitlyn Wolford of New York, Kerrigan Wolford of Jackson, Ohio, and Brooklyn Spencer of Fairborn, Ohio; three brothers: Herbert McGuire of Jackson, Ohio, Darrell (Penny) McGuire of Waverly, Ohio, and Galen McGuire of Barboursville, West Virginia; and three sisters: Dixie Rose of Jackson, Ohio, Aurella (David) Kirby of Wellston, Ohio, and Anita (Fred) Mercer of Jackson, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon and Stanley McGuire; and two sisters, Nancy McGuire and Shirley Cantrell.

Vera was a giver, she loved to travel and just go anywhere, she was also a big animal lover. One of her greatest joys in life though was being “Meme” to her grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and an even better friend. Her family will miss her dearly.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 17th, 2019 from 11-1PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will follow at 1PM at the funeral home with Rev. Tim Simpson officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
