Janice Sue (Conger) Fairchild, age 79, of Chillicothe, went to be with the Angels on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 11:10 PM at Adena Hospital, after losing her battle to cancer. She was born April 3, 1938 to the late Simon Toy Conger and Noka Geneva (Waugh) Conger, of Jackson. She was born and resided in Jackson County.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by sister, Geneva Ann (Conger) Albert.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Clarence Edward Faichild. They were united in marriage on September 29, 1956. Janice had five children, daughter, Teresa Ann (John Daniel) (Fairchild) Hannah; granddaughter, Scarlett Hannah; daughter, Rhonda Gail Fairchild; grandson, Shawn Fairchild; great granddaughter, Abrianna Fairchild; granddaughter, Sarah Gail Fairchild; great granddaughter, Elizabeth Cooper; son, Mark Edward Fairchild; granddaughter, Katlyn Fairchild; grandson, Caleb (Christina) Fairchild; great-grandson, Reese Fairchild; grandson, Luke Fairchild; daughter, Lorrie Lee Fairchild; two grandsons, Jerrick and Joshua Wright; youngest daughter, Geneva Beth (Fairchild) Craig; step grandchildren, Dakota and Cameron Craig; brother-in-law, Delmar Eugene Albert; nephew, Michael Eugene Albert; brother, William Jay Conger; nephew, T.J. Conger; sister, Barbara Lee (Conger) Sharp; niece, Peggy Sue Howell; and nephew, Daniel Toy Sharp. Also surviving is her long-time friend of 50 years, Wanda McDonald and numerous great nieces, great nephews, relatives, her church family and friends.

Janice enjoyed baking, Bingo, macramé and church. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a strong independent woman who was widely known for her cooking and baking. Janice and her husband enjoyed 61 short years together, taking care of each other through many trials and tribulations being supportive to one another. She was a long time active member of the Jackson Baptist Temple. She taught Sunday School for years. She participated in many of the church activities there. She is leaving behind a large loving church family, she will be sadly missed by all.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the Jackson Baptist Temple with Pastor Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery in Piketon.
