Robert “Duke” Rhodes, age 91, of Coalton, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born March 24, 1926 in Columbus, Ohio to the late John and Sophia (Rowe) Rhodes.

He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Lynn Miller, of Coalton, and Janice Rhodes, of Jackson; eight grandchildren, Rob (Linda) Davis, Chris (Tara) Davis, Richard (Michelle) Davis, Ryan Miller, Amanda Miller, Justin Miller, Trent Walke and Andrew Rhodes. Also surviving are eight great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his daughter, Martha Walke; brothers, Maurice, Kenny, John and Bill Rhodes; and the mother of his children, Beatrice M. Rhodes.

Duke was a WWII Army veteran, serving in Tokyo, Japan. He was a strong member and advocate for the Jackson Republican Party. He worked for DT&I Railroad and then retired from Mead Paper Co. He was also a long-standing member of the Jackson county Board of Elections.

Friends may call Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 4-7 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will immediately follow at 7 PM with Jon Hensler officiating.
