Melvin Bachtel Jr., age 69, of Jackson, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Riverside Methodist Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born December 13, 1948 in Logan, West Virginia to the late Melcin C. and Helen (Trogdon) Bachtel.

Melvin enjoyed golfing, playing his guitar and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Linda and beloved dog Jake. He also leaves a son, Rodney (Mary) Bachtel, of Jackson; a daughter, Tina (Michael) Thompson, of Sunbury; four grandchildren, Joshua, Michaela, Nicholas, Johnathan and a great granddaughter, Jordan; brothers, James and Curtis and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Friends may call Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 11-1 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will begin Thursday at 1:00 PM with Pastor Knox Bullock officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Jackson. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
