Jerry Scott Sr., age 70, of Jackson, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center with family by his side. He was born March 24, 1947 in East Lynn, West Virginia to the late Boyd and Ada Scott.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Loretta May (Tomblin) Scott; children, Jerry (Janelle) Scott Jr., of Jackson, Michael (Tonya) Scott, of Dayton, Ohio, Alicia (Zeb) Lane, of Barboursville, West Virginia and daughter-in-law, Carrie Durham Scott. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ryan (Avaree) Scott, of Charlottesville, Virginia, Shellenia (Adam) Scott, of Jackson, Alyssa Ballard, of Jackson, Amber (Tyler) Scott, of Batavia, Ohio and Samantha (Tristan) Scott, of Jackson.

In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his brothers, Arnold, Gene and Kenneth Scott and his sisters, Karen and Barbara Scott.

Jerry served his country in the Vietnam War as a mechanic in the United States Army from 1965-1968. He also held a career at the Southern Ohio Coal Company for many years as a coal miner before he became disabled. Jerry’s faith in God was strong and he worshipped at Paul’s Chapel United Baptist Church in Jackson, where he was a member. Jerry loved his animals dearly, and treated them like his own children. He touched so many lives without even knowing it. His family would like to thank the staff at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center for taking such wonderful care of Jerry during this difficult time.

Friends may call Monday, June 26, 2017 starting at 6:00 PM at Paul’s Chapel Church in Jackson off State Route 776. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Rex Maynard and Pastor Ivory Williamson officiating. Burial will follow at Paul’s Chapel Cemetery with military honors by the D.A.V. of Jackson. All are welcome to attend and remember Jerry.
