Paul “Lary” Buchanan, age 75, of Chillicothe, formally of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Ohio State Medical Center in Columbus. He was born July 3, 1947 to the late William C. and Katharine L. (Evans) Buchanan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Marcia (Castle) Buchanan; stepdaughters, Rebecca (Scott) Mingus, of Dover, PA, and Melissa (Aaron) Smith, of Annville, KY; loving sister, Janie Saunders; nephew, Jason Saunders, and niece Ashley (John) Hood; great nephews and niece, Noah and Noel Saunders and Jacob, Nathaniel and Joshua Hood and his fur baby, Samantha.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Joseph D. Saunders and Donald L. Castle.
Lary graduated from Jackson High School in 1965. Following graduation, he went into the military, serving in the U.S. Airforce during the Vietnam War. He worked for Sears Automotive as a salesman in Chillicothe until his retirement. He was an excellent baseball player in high school, mainly in pitching, first base and hitting. He loved watching baseball and OSU Buckeye football. He was very patriotic and loved his country. He will be missed by everyone that knew him.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 1, 2022, from 11-1 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 with Pastor Mike Jadrnicek officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
