Lehman Simmering, age 89, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday February 7th, 2024, at home, surrounded by family. He was born on October 15th, 1934, to the late William and Edna (Kelley) Simmering.

 

Lehman is survived by his Daughter Lena (Brian) Stiltner of Jackson; grandchildren: Celeste (Lane) Burdine of Jackson, Ashley (Andrew) Christman, of Columbia, South Carolina, Karl (Kassandra) Simmering of Chillicothe, Bridgette (Jeff) Chandler of Jackson, and Joseph (Tessa) Simmering of Jackson.  Also surviving are great grandchildren: Destiny Kille, Kalix Chandler, Addyson Christman and Barret Burdine or “Meanness” as papaw preferred to call him; sister, Linda (Gary) Hoover, of South Webster, sisters- in-law, Ann (Ron) Woods and Betty Reese, both of Columbus, as well as many nieces and nephews and close friends.

 

In addition to his parents, Lehman is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Wanda (Arthur) Simmering; His son, Karl Anthony “Tony” Simmering; great granddaughter, Halley Kille; brothers, Benny, Clearence, William “Bill”, and Fred Simmering; sisters, Frieda Johnson, and Minnie Adams.

 

Lehman was a very hard working, down to earth man, with a happy-go-lucky laugh and a good sense of humor. He loved his family, and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He also loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed listening to your stories as well as telling his. He and Wanda loved to go to flea markets and did so on a weekly basis, up until her passing. He then continued the tradition with his sister Linda. Along with their weekly trips, they included shopping at Tractor Supply, where he could visit his dear friend Jewell, who always brought a smile to his face. His favorite place to hangout was the front porch, where he wouldn’t hesitate to visit with any friends or neighbors who stopped by.

 

Visitation hours will be held Saturday, February 10, 202, from 12-2 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home in Jackson.  Funeral services will follow at 2:00 with Andrew Christman officiating.  Burial will follow in Hamilton Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Hamilton Cemetery Association c/o Karen McCall 108 Florence Ave. Jackson, Ohio 45640.  Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com
