June Fredrick “Fred” Huff, Jr., age 87, of Jackson, Ohio, died peacefully Saturday morning, May 25, 2024, at Edgewood Manor of Wellston, Ohio. Fred was born August 7, 1936, in Boyd County, Kentucky, a son to the late June Fredrick Huff Sr., and Ada (Howard) Huff.
Fred worked for many years as a member of the United Iron Workers Union Local 769. Later, he developed a passion for training and racing standardbred horses. This passion led to a successful career that spanned more than 40 years.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his brother, Howard Raymond Huff; and sister, Jo Ann Huff. He was also preceded in death by Beatrice Gillum Huff, his ex-wife and the mother of his three children.
Fred is survived by a son, Jaimie Huff (Trudea) of Jackson, Ohio; and 2 daughters, Tracey Hood (Tim) of Racine, Ohio, and Joanna Cooper of Wellston, Ohio. He is also survived by his sisters, Billie Jean Slone (Phillip) of Ashland, Kentucky, and Mary Lee Huff of Cincinnati, Ohio; as well as five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation hours will be held Wednesday May 29, 2024, from 11-1 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 with Pastor Tim Simpson officiating.
