Jane Ann (Dalton) Jones August 26, 1937 – November 4, 2024
It is with both heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the passing of Jane Ann (Dalton) Jones, who left us on Monday, November 4 at the age of 87. Born on August 26, 1937, to Glen and Kate (Allen) Dalton.
In 1953, Jane married David Conley, and together they had three children: David "Rick" (Pam) Conley, John Conley, and Susan (David) Massie. After her divorce, Jane embraced her role as a single mother with grace, humor, and a firm hand, raising three kids who were full of energy, mischief, and plenty of love. Nine years later Jane found her true love with James “Jim” Jones, with whom she was married for nearly 50 years. With Jim, she gained five stepchildren: Jaime, Paul, Kevin, Linda, and Tony.
Jane’s legacy lives on through her beloved grandchildren: John gave her five grandsons: Scott (Tracy) Conley, Johnny Conley, Jason (Jill) Conley, Adam (Emily) Conley, and Aaron (Geneva) Conley and Susan gave her a grandson and granddaughter: Waylon (Ashley) Massie and Kera (Jed) Butler.
From those seven grandkids she and Jim were blessed with 16 great-grandchildren: Reagin (Alyssa), Austin (Elyssa) and Reese (Scott); Jonathan, Jaydyn, and Jailyn (Johnny); Elin (Jason); Carver, Addyson, Corinne, and Ackley (Adam); Axl (Aaron); Grady, Grant, and Adalyn (Waylon); and Dalton, Weston, and Lydia Jane (Kera).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Kate Dalton; her grandparents, John and Elizabeth (Hughes) Allen; her son, John; stepson Jaime; and her beloved husband, Jim.
Jane’s family was her pride and joy. She took exceptional care of her grandmother, mother, and husband for many years, and her dedication to her family was unwavering. Her kindness, generosity, and humor shaped her into the incredible woman she was, and her love for her family will live on in every one of us.
Jane was a woman of many passions. Jane was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She had a love for Elvis Presley, and Westerns—especially, Gunsmoke. She was also known for her never-ending sweet tooth and love of shopping. She loved to be on the go with her favorite destinations being Hawaii and Las Vegas. For many years she could be found dancing with her friends at the Wagon Wheelers Club.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, at Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home in Oak Hill at 1:00 PM with Pastor Becky Wingo officiating. Visitation hours will be Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. The family invites all who knew and loved Jane to join in honoring her life and memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Growing Oaks Food Pantry. Though Jane is no longer with us and our hearts are broken, her memory will forever live in the hearts of her loved ones. Her love, spirit and legacy of devotion will continue to inspire and comfort those who remain. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
