Edith Patricia “Patsy” Swing of Jackson, Ohio passed away into the arms of the Holy Father on Thursday, January 18th, 2024, at the age of 80 after suffering more than two years of cancer. She was born September 16th, 1943, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Herbert and Mary (Verkamp) Schaefer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her older brother, Stanley; sisters, Shirley, Ruth, and Mary Alice; and younger brother, Jerry.

 

Patsy is survived by her husband, Patrick “Pat” Swing; son, Michael (Deanna) Swing; and her beloved grandson, Ian; as well as many nieces and nephews.

 

Patsy was a 1961 graduate of Williamsburg High School in Williamsburg, Ohio. Patsy and Pat from the nearby town of Bethel, Ohio were girlfriend/boyfriend from the first time they met in 1959 to the time of her passing. Patsy and Pat were united in marriage September 16th, 1963, in St Ann’s Catholic Church in Williamsburg, Ohio.

 

Patsy relocated to Jackson with her husband, Pat, in the summer of 1974. She immediately fell in love with the town and its friendly people. Patsy attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church and loved working with the Alter Society helping with their activities especially their annual rummage sale.

 

Patsy loved all animals. She was a volunteer at the Jackson Humane Society and adopted a few for her own family. Many stray dogs and cats found their forever home at Patsy’s house.

 

Patsy was a homemaker throughout her marriage. Her home and family along with her faith meant the world to her.

 

Patsy had many, many friends past and present as Pat and Patsy have been associated with Apple City Motorcycle Club since the mid-seventies.

 

Don’t be sad because of her passing but be happy that she shared moments with you.

The family would like to thank Holzer Hospital physicians and nurses as well as Holzer Hospice for providing comfort and care to Patsy during her time with them as well as the staff of Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home for their services.
