Anthony “Tony” DeStephen Sr., age 66, of Hilliard, Ohio formerly of Jackson, Ohio passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at his home in Hilliard. He was born June 26, 1953 in Canton, Ohio, to the late Arthur “Art” and Lucille (Sedlock) DeStephen.

Tony graduated in 1971 from Jackson High School. At JHS, he was a School Citizen, basketball captain, and ran cross country where he won gold medal at state. He coached Jackson Girls Basketball from 1999-2001, where he had several successful seasons, winning the league more than once. Tony was very well liked and respected in Jackson and the surrounding area. His other achievements include starting his own consulting Corp., working with various car dealers across the country. He was named #1 salesman for KISS Photocopy Machine Company. He worked at Wilcox and Babcock Steel Co. Tony loved to impersonate different people and various artists singing Beatles, Cat Stevens, and the Bee Gees non-disco songs while his brother, Art and son, Tony Jr., and nephews, Dan and Derek played guitar.

He is survived by his wife of almost 46 years, Elizabeth “Diane” (Davidson) DeStephen, whom he married May 4, 1974; one son, Anthony Jr. (Lizbeth) DeStephen; brothers, Raymond, Arthur Jr. (Donna) and Michael (Debbie) DeStephen; sisters, Kathleen (Daryl) Terry and Jennifer Jacobs; father-in-law, James Gary Davidson; brothers-in-law, Don (Hope), David (Susan), and Daniel (Gayla) Davidson. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and colleagues.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Private graveside services will be held Monday, April 27, 2020 at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery with Father Nicola Ventura officiating. Private burial will follow the service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tony’s memory to the Mt.
