Garland M. Roberts, age 86, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston. He was born March 8, 1932 in Busseyville, Kentucky to the late McKinley and Beulah (Muncy) Roberts.

He is survived by his wife, of 61 years, Mattie (Alley) Roberts; daughter, Robin (Mark) Hemming, of Jackson; granddaughters, Holly (Joshua) Maxstead, of Grove City, Ohio and Heidi Hemming, of Athens, Georgia; two great grandsons, Peyton and Parker Maxstead, of Grove City; brother, G.T. “Roger” Roberts, of Porter, Texas; and numerous nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded by his brothers, Frank Roberts and Carlos Roberts.

He was a United States Army veteran. He then retired from the United States Post Office after 30 years of service. After retirement, he was the top-ranking salesman for Wasserman Uniforms. In addition, he volunteered thousands of hours as a driver for the Disabled American Veterans. He was ordained as a Deacon with the Freewill Baptist denomination in 1970. And is a member of the Bethesda Freewill Baptist Church in Jackson. But most importantly, he was most well-known for his visitation outreach and soul-winning ministry.

Friends may call Tuesday, August 14, 2018 from 1-3 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3 PM at the funeral home with Rev Dan King and Rev Tim Stout officiating.
