Katherine L. Buchanan, age 95, of Jackson, Ohio passed away peacefully with her daughter and special friend, Mary Gilliland by her side on Sunday, November 26th, 2017 at Jenkins Care Community of Wellston. She was born September 30th, 1922 in Jackson, Ohio to the late John Herbert and Pauline (Camp) Evans.

She is survived by her children: Paul “Lary” (Marcia) Buchanan of Chillicothe, Ohio and Janie E. (Joseph) Saunders of Jackson, Ohio; two grandchildren: Jason (Victoria) Saunders of Jackson, Ohio and Ashley (Johnny) Hood of Wellston, Ohio; four great-grandchildren: Noah and Noel Saunders, and Jacob and Nathaniel Hood; as well as sister-in-law, Melva Evans.

In addition to her parents, Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Buchanan; four siblings: John Herbert Evans Jr., Robert Evans, Joann Bradford, and Edward J. Evans.

Katherine was a veteran of the United States Army and served during WWII. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Jackson and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #81.

The family would like to extend thanks to the staff at Holzer Assisted Living and Jenkins Care Community for the love and care they provided.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 29th, 2017 from 5-7pm at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 30th, 2017 at 1pm at the funeral home with Rev. Janie Karl officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
