Larry Blackburn, age 71, of Oak Hill, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus surrounded by his family. Larry spent the first few years of his life in Pikeville Kentucky, he spent the rest of his life in Oak Hill, Ohio. He was born in 1946 to the late Willard and Della (Gannon) Blackburn.

Larry was the third of five children. He met his wife Carol Lahrmer Blackburn and they married in 1966 in South Webster Ohio. Their first child Sherry Angel was born in 1968 and their second was Melissa Conger, born in 1975.

They lived on Gieke Ridge Road in Oak Hill until they purchased land below on Monroe Hollow, where he took pride in his small farm. He enjoyed working with his cattle, working in his garage and working in his garden and he loved time with his family on the porch. He drove a bus for Oak Hill Schools for 11 years while he operated his own junkyard. He retired after 20 years working as a custodian for Kenneth W. Lewis Elementary and then Oak Hill Elementary where he enjoyed helping everyone, fixing things and he loved being around all of the students.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded by his brothers, Arthur Fred Blackburn and Avery Dean Blackburn.

He is survived by his wife, Carol (Larhmer) Blackburn; sister, Arlene (Don) Brofford; brother, Gary Willard Blackburn; daughters, Sherry (Mick) Angel and Melissa (Tad) Conger; grandchildren, Kelli (Lee) Saylor, Kody Boggs, Kyla (Stephen) Zornes, Morgan Crabtree, Taylor Conger and Ethan Crabtree. He is also survived by great grandchildren, Brody, Brenleigh, Boone, Kenley and Berklee.

Friends may call Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 4-8 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, June 30, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Stan Howard and John Barkhurst officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Oak Hill.
