Lewis Edward Leach, age 72, of Ray, Ohio, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017 at SOMC Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born on November 15, 1944 in Chillicothe, Ohio, son of the late Earl Douglas and Marie (Mercer) Leach.

Though Lewis fought kidney disease for the majority of his adult life, he worked at Wear Ever in Chillicothe and Trippies Wholesale in Ray. He graduated from Jackson High School in the class of 1963. He was a longtime member and served at the Community of Christ Church of Jackson in the office of Priest. He found joy in mowing his lawn and maintaining his home. His greatest joy was found in his family, with activities ranging from sharing meals together to working on classic cars.

He is survived by his grandchildren; Shane Book, Austin Leach, Nadia & Dhini Leach; his children, Jeff (Michelle) Leach and Todd (Linda) Leach; siblings, Kay (Larry) Meredith, Paul Leach, Becky Lambert, Hugh (Judy) Leach, Ann (Bill) Williams and Ralph (Linda) Leach, along with his beloved nieces and nephews and his sister-in-law, Judy Leach.

In addition to his parents, Lewis was preceded in death by his nephew, Scott Lambert and brother Allen, who gave him the gift of a kidney which functioned thirty years.

Friends may call Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 4-8 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. A funeral will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the funeral home with Rev. Todd E. Leach officiating. Burial will follow in Limerick Cemetery.
