Freda Faye (Kisor) Byrd, age 78, of Oak Hill, Ohio passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 8th, 2016, at Heartland of Jackson. She was born November 10th, 1937 in Oak Hill, Ohio to Floyd Kisor and Geneva Mae (McCain) Kisor. Freda was a 1958 graduate of Oak Hill High School. She started working at the Campbell’s mushroom plant in Jackson, Ohio in 1978 and retired in 1999. Freda was a member of the Monroe Chapel CCCU. She enjoyed watching Fox News and talking politics, loved McDonald’s ice cream sundaes, and loved all her friends and family enormously. Freda is survived by her son, Kevin Byrd of Oak Hill, Ohio; grandson: Devon Byrd of Oak Hill, Ohio; granddaughter: Alexis Byrd of Oak Hill, Ohio; sister, Mary (Glen) Murphy of Bradford, Ohio; sister-in-law, June Kisor; brother-in-law, Earl Cherrington; sister-in-law, Ruth Kaltenbach; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Freda was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Kisor; mother, Geneva Mae (McCain) Kisor; husband, Carl Byrd; brother, Ronald Kisor; sister, Wilma Strickland; brother-in-law, Hayden Strickland; sister, Tamara Cherrington; and daughter-in-law; Ada (Thacker) Byrd. Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 14th, 2016 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Bruce Crabtree officiating. Burial will follow in Horeb Cemetery.
