On Tuesday evening, December 12, 2023, Ronald White, age 79 of Jackson, was welcomed into his heavenly home after a brief illness.  Ron was born in Jackson County, Ohio, in September of 1944, to Earl and Margaret (Armstrong) White.  He attended the old Scioto School and graduated from Jackson High School with the Class of 1962.  Ron drove school bus for Jackson City Schools then worked for Haynes Marathon for several years before becoming a maintenance mechanic at the Atomic Plant (USEC) where he retired after thirty years.

Ron’s greatest joys in life were his family - his wife of 55 years, Marilyn; his two kids - Rhonda (Ben) Woolum and Ron (Kim) White II; and especially his four grandsons - Elijah (Laura) Woolum, Tate White, Owen White, and Levi Woolum.

A life-long learner and avid reader, Ron loved to read and study the Bible, and he graduated from the Southern Ohio School of Ministry in 2000.  He was a preacher and a Sunday School teacher and loved to go to church.  He was always quick to tell you about God’s faithfulness and love.  For several years, he enjoyed going on mission trips around the United States and in Honduras.  He has been a faithful member of the Jackson First Church of the Nazarene for many years.

Ron was a fun-loving guy who enjoyed laughing and joking with everyone he met.  He was a die-hard Ohio State Buckeyes fan and had an extensive wardrobe of Buckeye t-shirts.  He also loved to do crossword puzzles - the more challenging the better.  Ron was always doing things outside and loved mowing grass.  After his retirement, he could be found mowing grass at home, at the church, and in several neighbors’ yards.

Besides his immediate family, Ron is survived by his sister, Betsy Weaver; sisters-in-law, Norma White, Linda (Paul) Berridge, Donna Crabtree, and Karen (Rich) McCall; his brothers-in-law, Roger (Ruby) Gilliland and Dale (Karen) Gilliland.  He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law, Mabel and Warren Gilliland; his brother, Larry White; his brothers-in-law, Bill Weaver and David Crabtree; and his nephew, David Crabtree II.

Funeral services are under the direction of the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. with the funeral immediately following at 4PM with Pastor Mark Erskine officiating.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: The Children/Teen Ministries at the First Church of the Nazarene, 251 Powell Drive, Jackson, OH 45640 or to Decean Ministries, 76 N Bennett Avenue, Jackson, OH 45640. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
