John Thomas Howell Sr., age 80, passed away Monday, August 7th, 2023, at SOMC in Portsmouth. He was born June 22nd, 1943, in Blackfork, Ohio to the late William and Luella “Marie” (Brady) Howell.

John is survived by his wife, Ruth Howell; children: John Howell of Oak Hill, Ohio, Debbie Moore of Oak Hill, Ohio, Kimberly (Mike) Blasczyk of Parkville, Missouri; and Heidi (Ken Pafford) of Georgetown, Kentucky; step-children: Paula (Jerry) Compton of Beaver, Ohio, Gloria (Bob) Jones of Kettering, Ohio, Evelyn Crawford of Chillicothe, Ohio, William Killen of Beaver, Ohio, Eddie Killen of Lucasville, Ohio, and Donna Copley of Piketon, Ohio; sister, Sharon (Alan) Hughes; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Constance “Connie” (McCain) Howell; son, Jeff Howell; and brothers, Bobbie, William “Billy”, Ronnie, and Dennie Howell.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 10th, 2023, from 11AM-1PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1PM with Pastor Randy Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
