Doretta Wilson, age 86, of Oak Hill, Ohio, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022. She was born in Charley, KY, on May 4, 1936, to the late Shirley and Ethel (Scarberry) Miller.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Timothy (Susan) Wilson, Mark Wilson, and Becky (Patrick) Perkins; in addition to nine grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Doretta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer Wilson, whom she loved without measure; her brothers, Edward (Rita) Miller and Glen (Alma) Miller, whom she adored.

Doretta worked for many years as a caregiver. She worked hard and lived a life full of love. She was strong, loving, friendly, and generous, with a heart of gold. She dearly loved her family. As the matriarch of the family, Doretta’s life revolved around her family, and she would do anything for them. They truly shared a wonderful family life, cherishing every moment together. She was a remarkable woman, who loved deeply and was sincerely kind to everyone she met. She had a genuine empathy for others. Doretta was incredibly talented, and particularly enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She enjoyed cooking the Thanksgiving meal for her family and loved the Christmas season. She made the best blackberry jelly and fudge. She loved animals, especially her dogs. But above all, Doretta truly cherished her family the most, especially time spent with her children and grandchildren.

Very faithful, Doretta was a member of the Oak Hill Freewill Baptist church, where she always felt peace and at home, at her church. She carried her Bible with her every day.

She was an avid sports fan, especially football, and was excited for Monday nights to watch her Dallas Cowboys, which she thoroughly enjoyed watching and talking about later with her son, Mark, and son-in-law, Pat. She truly will be remembered for her kind and loving spirit and will be dearly missed by all that knew her.

Public visitation will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2022, from 4-8 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill.
