Belvia “Bel” (Kearns) Akers, age 92, of Jackson, went to be with Lord on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Holzer Assisted Living in Jackson. She was born August 17, 1925 in Kermit, West Virginia to the late Andy and Maude (Stepp) Lovins.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Claudette Kearns, of Jackson; grandchildren, Lorinda (Matt) Newkirk of Florida, Steven Brad (Sheila) Kearns, Phillip Matthew (Pam) Strawser of Knoxville, Tennessee, Beau Shannon (Susan) Kearns of Jackson, Ohio, and Allissa Belvia (Andy) Bower of Chillicothe, Ohio; great grandchildren: Lora, Tyler, and Michael Newkirk, Devan Kearns and Alexandria (Jon) Purchase, Trevor, Taryn, and Taylor Strawser, Coleman and Steven Kearns, and Benjamin Bower; as well as six great great grandchildren.

Belvia was widowed at a young age to Emil Kearns Jr., the father of her only child. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her son, Steven L. Kearns, second husband Ralph W. Akers and her siblings Viola, Willard, Flornia, and Clarence.

Bel retired from the Jackson Corporation after many years.

Friends may call Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from 12:00-2:00 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Butch Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
