Delano G. “Corkey” Workman, age 78, of Oak Hill, Ohio went home to be with Jesus on Friday, November 4th, 2016 and is now reunited with his beautiful wife, Ginger. He was born on March 9, 1938 in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Lawrence and Sally (Subblett) Workman. He was a graduate of Sherman High School and served in the United States Air Force. He was a true patriot who loved his country and served it proudly. He became a member of the Masonic Lodge in 1972.
He was a member of the Evangelical Church of Christ and Christian Union in Oak Hill. He married the love of his life, Joy Ginger Marshall, on September 6, 1964. They had 51 wonderful years together before her passing on October 6, 2015. He retired from Big Bear Stores in Waverly, Ohio where he was employed as a butcher. He enjoyed camping, going to church, and most of all spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Teresa (Randy) Faye of Oak Hill, Ohio, Joyce (Mike) Barnes also of Oak Hill, Ohio; seven beautiful grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren that he adored; brothers: Thurman (Nancy) Workman of Charleston, West Virginia and Walter (Dottie) Workman of Pickerington, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews whom he loved so much. He also leaves behind several special friends including Bobby Roseberry, Tom Holstein, and Leon Hill.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Justine, Mercedes, Edna and Otmah.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Friends may call from 12 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. with a Masonic ceremony at 2:00 p.m Burial will follow at CM Cemetery in Oak Hill.
