Hamie Dean Woolum, also known as “Deano”, age 62, of Oak Hill, passed away at his home on July 22.2024, surrounded by his family.  Dean was born to Wally and Opal (Fairchild) Woolum on September 13, 1961. 

 

He married his wife Ruth (Nelson) Woolum and they were married for a total of over 23 years.  They met and married in 1982, divorced, and found each other again 20 years later, and spent an additional 13 years together married.  In addition to his wife, Ruth, he is survived by his siblings, Brenda Hanks, Linda Sue Brunton, and Mike (Angie) Woolum; his daughter, Melissa (Joey) Myatt; grandchildren, Alissa Wood, Tristan Myatt, Cierra Myatt; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Dean was preceded in death by his parents Wally and Opal; and his son, Gary Wood Jr.

 

He was a hard worker, he was a carpenter, building houses and also a roofer.  He loved to fish and plant his garden and watch NASCAR.  He loved his wife and family dearly.  Dean enjoyed his life but was ready to meet his Lord. 

 

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 11-3 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill.  Funeral services will follow at 3:00 with Pastor Jamie Sisson officiating.  Burial will follow at Hill Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com
