Ernest Russell “Ernie” Forshey, age 72, of Jackson, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Adena Medical Center in Chillicothe surrounded by his family. He was born on May 5, 1953, in Oak Hill to the late Jacob and Juanita (Henderson) Forshey.
He is survived by his wife of over 25 years, Tina (Peoples) Forshey; children, Heather (Joe) Shoemaker, Melody Forshey, Effie (Todd) Mullins, Deirdra (Shawn) Plummer, Tiffany Beavers (Jesse Chapman); son, Nathan Beavers (Rosie Yoder), Carrie (Ron) Estle, Travis Beavers; grandchildren, Jacob Shoemaker, Lilly Shoemaker, Alesa Graham, Kyenne Graham, Jake Gray, Michael Plummer, Weston Plummer, Ellen Gray, Alia Beavers, Brayleigh Beavers, Makinslee Beavers, Maddie Chapman, McKenzie Chapman, Dean Hawk, Zeke Estle, Moses Estle, Eva Estle, Abby Beavers, Levi Beavers, and Michael Beavers. Also surviving are his brothers, John (Janet) Forshey, Dale (Terri) Forshey; sister, Sharon (Gary) Stabler; and several nieces and nephews; special friends, Aaron Bobst, Steve Curry, and Dave Adams. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepson, Jacob Beavers.
He graduated from Jackson High School in 1971. Ernie was a hard worker, he worked at several apple orchards, construction, and he was a chicken farmer. Over the years, and last he owned and operated two different feed stores in Wellston and Minford, until his retirement just before his death. He enjoyed farming his whole life.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 4-8 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the funeral home with Steve Curry officiating. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
