Thelma Maxine Robbins, age 91, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022, at the home of her daughter, Becky Blystone in DeLand, Florida. She was born on Feb. 5, 1931, in Lackey, Kentucky, and raised in Oak Hill, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Eaphraim and Hattie (Hicks) Hayes.

Maxine was well known as a restauranteur, with Swirly Top, Highway Restaurant, and Robbins Restaurant. She retired after ten years from the Jackson County Board of Elections as Deputy Director. She was an active member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Jackson, serving in various capacities. She was involved in the Emblem Club and Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion. She was an avid fan of UK Basketball and Cincinnati Reds Baseball. But nothing meant more to her than her family, all her extended family (especially her Hayes family) and friends and having them all together.

She is survived by six children: Tobie (David) Davis of Deltona Florida, Becky (Chuck) Blystone of DeLand Florida, John (Sonya) Robbins Yulee of Florida, Nancy (Tom) Jolly of Wellston, Ohio, Mark (Susan) Robbins of Farmville, Virginia, and Sara Deaterla of Jackson, Ohio. She is survived by 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Mac Robbins; her son-in-law, Mike Deaterla; five sisters: Geneva Hayes Cayton, June Hayes Rawlins, Avanell Hayes Cook, Barbara Hayes Delaney Sutton, and Billie Hayes Benson; and five brothers: Eaph, Clarence, James Madison, Curt, and Adrian Hayes.

A celebration of life will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Jackson, Ohio on Saturday, April 2nd, 2022, beginning at 11AM. Burial will be in Hamden Cemetery next to her husband Mac Robbins.

In lieu of flowers, her wish was that donations be made instead to the Marlee Factor Foundation founded by her daughter, Sara, to benefit chronically ill and special needs children at 77 Russ Road, Jackson, Ohio, 45640. Burial will be in Hamden Cemetery next to her husband Mac Robbins. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.lewisgillum.com.
