Rita Ferne (Delaney) Carpenter, age 69, of Oak Hill passed away early Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis. She was born January 1, 1951 in Oak Hill to the late Charles “Akin” and Fern (Yates) Delaney.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Michael Carpenter and an infant brother.

She is survived by her four children, Charles (Nikki) Carpenter, Suzanne (Jeffrey) Turner, Michael “Tee” Carpenter and Keith (Lana) Carpenter; and brother, Joe Delaney; twelve grandchildren, three great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

Rita worked at the Oak Hill Hospital as a nurse’s aide. She also worked in a few local nursing homes before she retired due to her health. She loved her dogs and she also took very good care of her brother, Joe. Her grandchildren were her world, she never turned down a stranger and always cared for others.

Private services will be held Saturday, April 18, 2020 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor Ron Bynum officiating. Burial will follow in C.M. Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
