An avid reader and lifelong learner, Wesley had an encyclopedic knowledge of world and local history as well as a near-perfect recall of his own 96 years. His inquisitive character and independent nature led Wesley to take up and master countless skills and abilities over the years. After retiring from Goodyear in 1985, Wesley set to work transforming a few acres of wilderness into the beautiful home that he shared with Susan until his passing. He found joy through hiking, gardening, mushroom hunting, traveling, restoring antiques, spending time with his family, and researching their genealogy. It was nearly impossible to find a surname on either side of the Ohio River that Wesley could not recall generations-worth of facts and anecdotes about. The wealth of knowledge that was lost with Wesley’s passing cannot be overstated.
