Dorsie Marie Bragg, our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Granny passed away at Four Winds of Jackson on December 14th, 2025, just a few days after celebrating her 100th birthday. Dorsie was born December 8th, 1925, in Barboursville, West Virginia to the late John and Phoebe Marie (Workman) Blevins.
Dorsie was talented at both painting and drawing, leaving behind some of her artwork for her family to cherish. She also had a particularly good singing voice and could even yodel. In her younger years, she enjoyed square dancing.
Grandma Bragg’s chili was a staple within her family, with everyone stopping by on a Saturday to enjoy some. Dorsie was blessed with a large family whom she loved dearly. She was a faithful Christian who loved the Lord. Her family will miss her every day.
Dorsie is survived by four children: Joyce Cassidy, Carolyn (Mike) Gilliland, Erline (Jeff) Page, and Vickie Adkins; 21 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 41 great-great-grandchildren; two stepchildren: Mark Bragg and Ben Bragg; and several step-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis George Bragg; daughter, Sharon Gould Wolford Hood; son, Earl Edward Gould; grandson, Bryan “Justin” Gould; and great-grandson, Justin Wiford.
The family would like to extend thanks to the compassionate care given to Dorsie by the nurses and staff during her stay at Four Winds.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 19th, 2025, from 12PM-2PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. A funeral service will follow at 2PM with a burial after at C.M. Cemetery in Oak Hill. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
