Irene (Lewis) Lloyd, age 99, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, May 31, 2020, at Holzer Assisted Living in Jackson. She was born November 11, 1920 in Thurman, Ohio to the late Edward and Zelma Lewis.

She is survived by sons, John E. (Debbie) Lloyd of Reynoldsburg and Stephen (Camille) Lloyd of Jackson; sister, Winnie (Larry) Ghearing of Circleville; grandchildren: Mark Lloyd of Cincinnati, John S. Lloyd of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Erin (Rob) Healy of Norfolk, Virginia; and great-granddaughter, Ariana Reese Lloyd of Cincinnati.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reese E. Lloyd, in 1990; sisters: Sarah Lane, Jennie Myers, and Mary Thornton; and brother, Edward Lewis.

Irene was a retired elementary school teacher from the Jackson City Schools (35 years) and faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson. She was proud of her affiliation with the Century Club, Study Club, Presbyterian Bible Study, The Women’s Association, Walnut Hills Garden Club, Fairgreens Country Club and others over the years. She also was a long-time volunteer at Holzer Hospital in Gallipolis, Ohio.

Graveside services were held June 9, 2020 at Hill Cemetery in Thurman with the Rev. Dr. Shelley Wiley officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
