Warren Yerian, age 90, peacefully went to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, January 29th, 2019. He was born August 1st, 1928 in Jackson, Ohio to the late Rosa (Hayth) and Howard Yerian.
He was employed by the City of Columbus and local foundries for short periods. He worked first as a draftsman and later an engineer at the Piketon Uranium Enrichment Plant. He loved the challenge of design and innovation of machinery.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson where he served on the board of trustees and as a deacon. Due to his failing health in recent years he was unable to attend church but was ever present in spirit and support.
Warren was a Mason (60 year pin) and a Shriner. He loved to tinker and invent. He did pro- bono drafting and design work for local charities. He loved gardening. He was devoted to his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family including nieces and nephews. He often invented unique games and challenges to entertain them.
On September 10th, 1955 he married Ernestine Irwin at Calvary Baptist Church in Rio Grande, Ohio. They celebrated more than sixty-three years of marriage.
He is survived by his wife, Ernestine Yerian; his children: Lynn (George) Arnott of Bidwell, Ohio, Patrick Yerian of Loveland, Ohio, and James (Lorraine) Yerain of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada; grandchildren: Zach (Rachael) Kearns; great-grandchildren: Adlie and Katy of Jackson, Ohio, Andrew Kearns (Cindy Foly) of Wellston, Ohio, Blake (Madison) Arnott of Chesapeake, Ohio, and Lily Yerian of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada; sisters, Carolyn (Yerian) Lorbach of Jackson, Ohio and Mary Lee (Yerian) Wickline of Circleville, Ohio; and son-in-law, Jed Kearns.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Cheryl Kearns of Jackson, Ohio; brother, Loren Yerian; and sisters: Peggy (Yerian) Perry and Glenna Marie (Yerian) Paugh.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 2nd, 2019 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM with Masonic rites at 1:30 PM. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM. Graveside services will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Coalton, Ohio. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
