Beatrice Kay (Bloss) Michael, passed away on April 29th, 2017, at her home in Webster, New York. She was born June 9th, 1950 to Charles and Mary Bloss who preceded her. She is survived by her loving daughter, Michelle (Steve) Lunn and her grandchildren, Alexis and Justin Lunn, all of Webster, New York. Also surviving are her sisters, Patricia (Roy) Mullins of Circleville, Ohio and Deborah (Jimmy) Prater of Jackson, Ohio along with nephews, Chris (Jessica) Mullins of Circleville and Matthew (Jennilyn) Prater of Jackson, and her niece Joanna Pinkerton of Circleville along with 6 great nephews and nieces. Kay also leaves behind lifelong friends, Steve and Darla Saunders and the children and grandchildren.

Always called Kay, until recently when her new friends in NY began to call her Bea, she graduated from Rio Grande College in 1972 with a B.S. in Education and Math, and in 1979 from Ohio University with her MS in Economic Education and Guidance Counseling. She went on to complete post graduate work at the University of Dayton, qualifying for Ohio Department of Education Administrative Certification in Principal, both Elementary and Secondary, and Superintendent.

Kay worked 33 + years in various education positions with the Gallipolis City Schools, the Gallia County Local Schools, and the Gallia-Jackson-Vinton JVSD, retiring as the Director/Principal of Buckeye Hills Career Center. She went back to work as Superintendent of the Jackson County Board of Developmental Disabilities for an additional 7 years.

Kay raised her daughter and lived on a small farm outside of Rio Grande, Ohio for 37 years where she ran a herd of beef cattle marketing the calves as feeder calves; the last herd being Registered Red Angus.

Her faith in God was strong and she worshipped and worked in the Methodist Churches in Ohio and New York. She was a 37-year member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International in Ohio and New York and a lifetime member of the Ohio Farm Bureau.

Friends may call at the Lewis & Gillum funeral home in Jackson on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 4 to 7 pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 10:00 am with Rev. Janie Karl officiating. Burial will follow in the Bloss Family plot at Fairmount Cemetery, Jackson, Ohio. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Playground/Recreation Area dedicated in Kay’s name at the Hope Haven School, P.O. Box 607, 822 Sellars Drive, Jackson, Ohio 45640 or the American Cancer Society.
