Garland Lee Boston, 93, of Jackson, Ohio passed peacefully into heaven’s embrace on Friday November 24, 2023, at Adena Medical Center in Chillicothe. Garland was born on August 11, 1930, in Bladen, Ohio to William Boston and Florence Windom. Garland was among four sons, Dexter Boston, William Boston and his twin brother, Marlin Boston.

Garland attended and graduated from Rio Grande High School in 1949. It was there that he would meet a beautiful young woman, Glenna M. Smith. Glenna would become his “high school sweetheart” and his “one and only”. Garland and Glenna would marry in the presence of loved ones on September 1, 1951. Garland enlisted in the United States Air Force and together he and his beautiful bride relocated to Arlington, Virginia for his service in Washington DC.

In 1955 Garland was blessed by the birth of a beautiful baby girl, Jeanne, and then became the father to a spirited baby boy, Lee, in 1959.

Together Garland and Glenna worked, traveled, and lived in love as their family grew throughout the years. Having seen many of the beautiful sights across the country Garland loved to tell stories of all they had seen and found together.

In May of 1973 Garland earned his next title in life, Grandpa, when Gregory Joe Dalton was born. Greg would soon become a big brother to Christopher Allen Dalton in December of 1976. Greg and Chris would share a million moments with Grandpa Boston cheering them on at football games and wrestling meets.

Garland was pinned as a 72-year member of Centerville Lodge #371 and was plural member of Jackson Trowel Lodge #132. Garland was proud of his affiliation and roles within the Masonic brotherhood and devoted much of himself to his brothers of Masonry.

Garland was a proud man who worked hard and enjoyed all that life set before him, lovingly earning the titles of husband, dad, brother, Grandpa, and “Mr. Boston”. He was fond of many and loved by all.

Garland enters into heaven’s grace to join his parents, William and Florence and his brothers Dexter, William and Marlin. Also awaiting at heaven’s gate is his spirited boy, Lee, as well as many loved ones and friends.

Garland leaves behind his high school sweetheart, Glenna M. Boston and his beautiful baby girl, Jeanne (Merle) Collins of Oak Hill, Ohio as well as grandsons, Greg (Shannon) Dalton of Chillicothe, Ohio and Chris (Mandee) Dalton of Jackson, Ohio. Also surviving are Garlands’ great-grandchildren: Blayne, Brayden, Jennifer, Kayla, Christopher, Ryan, Olivia, and Markaela Dalton along with several step-great-grandchildren and many friends and loved ones.

In the spirit of his love of motorcyles Garland will be escorted to final rest at Fairmount Cemetery by Patriot Guard Riders.

Services for Garland Lee Boston will be held on Thursday November 30, 2023, at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. The family will receive loved ones from 12PM-2PM with funeral services immediately following at 2PM with Nathan Moore and Jack Hughes officiating.
