Jesus welcomed his newest angel into his loving arms on the afternoon of June 23, 2017. As Anna Mae Barnett passed from this world into her heavenly home. Ann was born on December 28, 1933 to Frank and Cora Linton Duhl. She was the oldest of her seven siblings; John (Neb), Adam, Jim, Charlie, George, Delbert and Ruby.

Ann attended the Pine Ridge School in Jackson until the eighth grade. At this time Ann’s parents removed she and her brother, Neb from school so they could help their father support the family.

Ann was no stranger to hard work. She worked at numerous jobs in her lifetime including the Hercules Trouser Plant, the Marathon Inn and the one she is most remembered for, a school cook in the Jackson City Schools, where she retired in 2002, after 26 and a half years of service. Ann was blessed with two children in her life, Betty Jane Cundy and John Michael Cundy. Being a young mother on her own, she dedicated her life to her children as their mother and sole supporter. Ann met and was married to Hyman Barnett in 1968. This union was joined until he passed away in 2000.

Ann attended the first church service at Calvary United Methodist Church in 1951. She professed Jesus as her personal savior in her twenties and touched many lives through her faith in Christ. While attending Calvary, Ann was involved in the church choir, United Methodist Women, Adult and Family Life Committee, was a bible school teacher and snack helper. Ann was also a member of the Jackson Senior Citizens and RSVP organizations. She loved to read, listen to country music and travel. In Ann’s free time, she enjoyed spending time with the loves of her life, her son John and her three granddaughters, Laurel Shea, Melina Brianne and Brenna Nicole. John and the girls brought such joy to Ann’s life. She also enjoyed spending time with close friend and special niece, Lillian Shook and her family.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents, siblings; John (Neb), Charlie, George, Delbert and half sister, Marie Runyon; daughter, Betty Cundy; husband, Hyman Barnett; former husband, Mike Cundy; stepson, Eldon Barnett and nephews, Floyd Baker Jr. and Mark Allen Johnson.

Ann is survived by her son, John Cundy; granddaughters, Laurel, Melina and Brenna Cundy, all of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Ruby Johnson; brothers, Adam and Jim Duhl; nieces and nephew, Marky Baker, Patty Baker, and Ronnie Johnson; step-son, Charles Barnett; step-grandsons, Kevin and Matt Barnett; special niece, Lillian Shook; and Ann’s beloved dog, Chico.

Ann was a quiet, humble person who always let her Christian faith show in her outer actions. She will be missed by many who loved her.
