Barbara “Nanny” Comer, age 72, of Oak Hill, Ohio passed away Wednesday, February 22nd, 2017 at Adena Regional Medical Center of Chillicothe. She was born April 3rd, 1944 in Oak Hill, Ohio to the late John and Mabel (Snyder) Bowens. Barbara was a past resident of Columbus, Ohio and a past employee of Saint Anthony Hospital. She was a loving mother and grandmother who always put all of her children first.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Virgil V. Comer Sr.; children: Virgil V. Comer Jr. (Rachel) of Columbus, Ohio, Sandra Comer (Dwight) of Utica, Ohio, David Comer (Lisa) of Westerville, Ohio, Mark Comer of Oak Hill, Ohio, Bobby Comer (Roger) of Columbus, Ohio, and Alan Comer (Jessica) of Worthington, Ohio; grandchildren: Chelsea, Raven, Hayley, Emily, Jacob, and Sophia; great-grandchildren: Aryelle, Marcus, Jonathon, and Allison; sisters: Freda Baum and Sharon Dillard of Columbus, Ohio, Betty Comer of Minford, Ohio, Bonnie Ohmann of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Lois Howell, Linda Shaner, and Nancy Jenkins all of Oak Hill, Ohio; two brothers: Stanley Bowens of Obetz, Ohio and John R. Bowens of Oak Hill, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Shirley Walker, Carol Jean Montes, and Brenda Denuit.

Immense appreciation to her loving sisters-in-law, Fern Belena (Comer), Judy Comer, and Lynn Jones (Comer) for all the love and assistance they have provided over the years.

Friends may call on Saturday, February 25th, 2017 from 11-1pm at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will immediately follow at the funeral home at 1pm with Rev. Fred Crabtree officiating. Burial will follow at Horeb Cemetery.
