Wilma Saralene Martin Lunsford Spohn, age 85, of Jackson, Ohio was gathered into the arms of Jesus, Wednesday May 21, 2025, at Holzer Assisted Living with her family by her side. She was born November 9, 1939, in Madisonville, Tennessee to the late Ross and Donzella Martin.
Sara grew up in Madisonville, Tennessee and graduated from Madisonville High School in 1957. On June 27, 1957, Sara married Jim Lunsford, and they had four children. She spent years as a stay-at-home mom with her four children. She made a warm, happy home providing countless home-cooked meals and hand-sewn clothing for her family. She spent over 30 years working as a bookkeeper in the Jackson area. On July 1, 1986, she married Randy Spohn.
Sara will be remembered for her kindness, devotion to family, warm personality, and her unwavering faith. She was a light wherever she went, her warmth left a lasting impression, and her quiet grace influenced the lives of everyone around her. She listened deeply and remembered the small details that mattered most. Sara had a way of making people feel seen and important. She read her Bible daily and lived by its guidelines and truth. She lived a good life, full of love and goodness. While her passing causes tears for her absence, because of her relationship with Jesus Christ, we can rejoice in knowing she is in heaven with a new whole body.
Sara is survived by her husband, Randy Spohn; children: Darrell (Judy) Lunsford, Scott (Tammy) Lunsford, Kay (Billy) Davis, and Kim and Scott Spohn; grandchildren: Becky (Jimmy) Snyder, Molly Spohn, Natalie (Taylor) Stepp, Hannah (Brandon) Banks; great-grandchildren: Cayden and Kiersten Snyder, Jane and Judah Banks, and Tessa Stepp and her expected brother due in December; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gene Martin; and her first husband, Jim Lunsford.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the entire staff at Holzer Assisted Living Jackson for the compassionate and attentive care they provided to Sara over the past year. Your kindness, patience, and presence made a lasting difference, and we are forever grateful. The family would also like to express their profound gratitude to the Holzer Hospice care team, whose gentle guidance, comfort, and compassionate presence brought peace to those who loved Sara in her final days.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorial donations may be made to: Holzer Assisted Living Activities Fund, Attn: Pam Evans, 101 Markham Drive, Jackson, OH 45640 or to the Gideons International Bible Placement Program.
