Connie Jean Swaney White passed from this life unexpectedly Sunday, July 24, 2022. She was born in Scioto Township in Jackson to Carl and Carol Mercer Swaney on December 18, 1950, during an eventful snowstorm.

Connie was a unique gal, carrying love for her family and friends while being at the top of her class during her school years. She was a member of 4-H for many years and was an attendant on the Queen’s Court in the 1960s at the Jackson County Fair.

Connie married Russ White in 1970 and moved to Columbus, Ohio, where she worked for twenty years, most recently as a legal secretary in the Attorney General’s Office. In 1991 she moved back to Scioto Township in Jackson near Russ’s brother, Howard White. Connie came back to her beloved home church, Wesley United Methodist Church, on Cove Road. Over the years Connie made many fond memories with her church family and served as secretary for the United Methodist Women. She kept the most extensive and thorough minutes, delighting in adding a list of the menu or a funny story or two! Connie eagerly worked on the church history, keeping various records up to date. She loved history in general, especially family history. She knew the Lord, which gives us all a boost in our own walk with Him.

Connie had an unusual sense of humor, leaving a person hanging for want of an answer. She enjoyed family events, talking with her grandchildren and hearing news of babies being born. She will certainly be missed by many!

Connie leaves to mourn her husband, Russ of fifty-two years; daughter Kellie (Shane) Dawson of Ostrander, Ohio; and three grandchildren: Bryce, Chloe and Addison “Lev” Dawson; one sister, Melody (Ed) Rose; niece, Christina (Bobby) Hively; nephew, Johnny (Tasha) Rose; brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Diana White; nephews Ben (Megan) White, C.J. (Jenny) White; niece Lorrell (Aaron) White; sisters-in-law, Janie (Pete) Burman, Linda (Randy) Staten, Ruth Swaney; nephews, Brian and Don Swaney; brother-in-law, Paul (Lisa) White; and her best friends of many years, Chloe Marshment and Mary Beth Davis Tipton, as well as numerous cousins and church friends she loved so much! She was preceded in death by her brother, Ed Swaney.

Connie lived and died in her mobile home on Glade Road, filled with family pictures and treasures passed down to her from her family. While her journey there is over, we who loved her, helped her, enjoyed her, and admired her spunk and creativity all expect the very best has come for Connie Jean White. She was God’s faithful servant and chosen one and has a new promised home with Jesus. Those who loved her will still have family get togethers and church meetings, but they will never be the same without Connie.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022, from 11:00-1:00 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Hanna Cemetery on Cove Road, Scioto Township. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Wesley United Methodist Church, Cove Road or the charity of your choice. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
